It is difficult for me to predict exactly what the technology trends will be in 2023, as so much can change in a short period of time. However, some technologies that are expected to see significant growth in the coming years include:

  1. Artificial intelligence: AI is expected to continue to be a major trend, with advancements in machine learning and natural language processing allowing for the development of more advanced and sophisticated AI systems.
  2. Internet of Things (IoT): The IoT refers to the growing network of connected devices that are able to communicate with each other and exchange data. This technology is expected to continue to grow and expand in the coming years, with a greater number of devices becoming connected and the development of new applications for the IoT.
  3. 5G: The next generation of mobile networking technology, 5G is expected to bring faster speeds and more capacity for connected devices. It is expected to have a wide range of applications, including in the IoT, self-driving vehicles, and more.
  4. Virtual and augmented reality: While virtual and augmented reality have been around for a while, they are expected to see more widespread adoption in the coming years, with the development of more advanced hardware and software.
  5. Blockchain: The technology behind cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, blockchain is a decentralized, secure, and transparent way of storing and transferring data. It is expected to see a wide range of applications in areas such as supply chain management, identity verification, and more.

While we agree that Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies are a major trend for 2023, it relies on the professional content being created on this new medium provider.

At Scenegraph Studios, we have put in even more process steps for quality assurance to keep our content and experience to the highest of quality, giving the limited nature of the mobile hardware we have to play with.

We are interested in how Artificial Intelligence will improve the rendering (visuals) of VR, but also, how it will be used to modify content in a VR experience on the fly for the end user. For example, in SpiritVR, we have built in an AI tracking system which monitors what a user does within scenes, from breathing, to response to colours to customise the end users experience for the better.
